September 2026- The Journey is Long, But…
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” I have been pastoring for 25 years now, and I cannot figure out where time has gone. Some days I sit back and I try to remember my younger days. In my mind, they were yesterday, but according to the timeline, it’s quite a bit of time that has passed. I often think of the journey, the things we have overcome, our children when they were young (now the first is getting married), and the second is getting ready to graduate from high school.
I want to remind you today that this is a journey. It’s not only a journey of life, but it’s a journey of God’s hand in our lives. When we were born, he initiated the journey and as He divinely created opportunity for you and I to step onto this path, that leads us into His glorious and eternal promise. The fact is, sometimes we get weary and tired. I’ve come to remind you today that the journey is long but the reward is so great. The Apostle Paul kept his eyes on the prize, and because of that he was able to endure some of the greatest hardships and afflictions that any Christian would ever endure. Sometimes you have to go through life with blinders on, which keeps us focused on forward progress and keeps us reminded that we’re not staying in this place. We are headed somewhere! The journey can be long, but it is only the journey and it is not the destination.
Hang in there. Stay faithful to God and He will stay faithful to you. Whatever you encounter along life’s path, just know it’s temporary and it’s only a bump in the road; the road that is leading you to your eternal reward. The journey is long, but the reward will be so worth it.
